New Year's Eve Cocktails at B&H Buildings

WHISKY TASTING WITH SIMPLY WHISKY

“Oh thou, my muse! guid auld Scotch drink!”

Join Bourne & Hollingsworth for the ultimate Burns Night celebration on Thursday 25th January 2018.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, guests can celebrate the life of Robert Burns with a sophisticated night of whisky cocktails, ceilidh dancing and burns night banqueting.

Laddies and Lassies are invited to don their finest tartan attire and enter the stunning cocktail bar for a welcome whisky cocktail reception, a choice from a cocktail menu of specially created Burns night creations, complete with the traditional Burns night piper.

Guests can either proceed down to the subterranean surrounds of Below & Hidden to celebrate the genius of Robert Burns with a tasting of five of Scotland’s best whiskies, or enjoy the melodic sounds of the Burns Night piper, before heading into The Greenhouse and Garden Room for a rumbustious traditional Scottish celebration and feast.

The B&H Master of Ceremonies will then take charge. There will commence a lively rendition of the Scottish bard’s loving ode to whisky, Scotch Drink, delivered in the vibrant and theatrical stylings of Simply Whisky’s Franchi T Ferla and Finn Thomsan.

A five course supper will be served, with each course paired with a delicious dram or delectable cocktail including Cullen Skink served alongside Mountain Daisy, a refreshing fizz and whisky cocktail, whisky marinated salmon, cucumber, radish and lovage paired with Copper Dog Whisky, the classic haggis, neeps and tatties with a tumbler of Lagavulin 12yo Special Release, the Bourne & Hollingsworth Cranachan with Caol Ila 18yo, all finished off with deep fried mars bars and a special Johnnie Walker Espresso Roast cocktail.

The Selkirk Grace will be recited, the haggis piped in, addressed and toasted, the immortal memory enacted, live music played, toasts to the lassies and a vote of thanks as the dinner draws to a close with everyone joining hands for a rendition of Auld Lang Syne. Those of a more extrovert disposition can participate in The Burns Factor and try their hand at reciting some of the poet’s trickier verses. The festivities then continue as guests have an opportunity to get fair puckled dancing the Eightsome Reel, Strip the Willow and other traditional ceilidh favourites.
